New Year, New Rules

Thinking back on my New Year’s Eve festivities, I remember being with a small gathering of friends, watching the countdown expecting to be overcome with infinite joy and excitement in anticipation of a new year. There I was, holding my glass, the numbers steadily rolling backwards…10-9-8-7, waiting for that big moment, 6-5-4-3, … and then, finally 2-1… when 2019 rang in. But instead of shouting the obligatory “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” I froze cold –suffering a brief moment of paralyzing panic. Like shortness of breath, light flashing before my eyes, sweaty underboob kinda panic.

MAG UP For FALL

I officially declare Fall as MAG season. With a September birthday I am already partial to the “ber” months—September, October, November and December. But its more than that. Fall is a time to rejuvenate and where necessary, replenish. I reject January as the signature time to reflect both on one’s abundance and opportunities. When summer heat morphs into the cool breeziness of a crisp Fall day, there is no better time to take stock of your MAGness and plan an attack. Make Fall a time to Renew, Reshape and Recharge.

Advice for your 20s

As I sat down to write this article , I considered how supremely unqualified I am on the subject. I have a perpetual layer of sticky crumbs on my keyboard. I never have a pen, snack bar, or band-aid when I need one. I am a trial-and-error, work-in-progress. Fallible and wise and complicated as the next person reading this. I’ve only ever experienced life in my body with the circumstances given— and the only person I feel capable of advising is younger me (though who honestly knows if she’d ask).
